About The Freckledy Ranger

Welcome Explorers- So far I have worked nine seasons with the National Park Service. My first season was at Assateague Island National Seashore in Maryland (2011). The summer of 2012 and the summer of 2013 I worked at Mesa Verde National Park in Colorado.
In the summer of 2014 and 2015 I worked in Yellowstone National Park,  and I went back to Mesa Verde National Park in between the summers of Yellowstone (winter 2014-2015 and winter 2015-2016).

My eighth season with the National Park Service was the summe of 2016, in Alaska, in Katmai National Park and Preserve. I just finished my ninth season at Mesa Verde National Park (2017).

I hope to continually update this blog as I travel through my National Park Service journey, meeting new people, going on new adventures, and learning life lessons on the way.

I write about many different topics ranging from travel experiences through different parks and trails, to environmental news that I think are important. As well as my sweet-tooth that leads to some baking recipes.

*This blog reflects my personal opinion, and not the views of the National Park Service.

  1. How did you become a park ranger? I love Yellowstone. I was there in April and May and will be returning sometime in 2016. I can’t wait.

    • I got a degree in Environmental Education, and got my first park ranger job in 2011. You picked a great time to visit Yellowstone! Maybe visit in the fall this year?
