Shutdown Thoughts

This website and blog post represent my opinions and do not represent the opinions of the National Park Service. I’m unemployed. Nothing new about that though, I’ve been unemployed since September 2017. As competition increases, and funding decreases, many people work seasonally (6 months) for the National Park Service. Getting an available position for the winter season is extremely difficult, and I was fortunate I was able to work at Mesa Verde in the winter in the past. #FindYourPark and Treat It Well

The National Park Service campaign to encourage people to find their park is working; if not working maybe too well. Visitation to many of the parks has steadily increased over the last few years. As someone who loves the idea of the National Park Service (NPS) and what it shares I think its a good thing. It’s hard to support or take care of something that doesn’t have meaning to you.
